Here are the 10 most frequently asked questions we receive in the consultation about implants.
1.THE PAIN: DO IMPLANTS HURT?
It is the first thing that arouses concerns when starting an implant treatment.
The answer is that NO. It is a minimally invasive intervention that is performed under local anesthesia, therefore, absolutely no pain is felt while it lasts.
Then at home, the discomfort is minimal, less than those of other treatments, such as a tooth extraction.
Nothing that an ibuprofen can’t calm down.
2. WILL I BE ABLE TO LIVE A NORMAL LIFE: WORK, DRIVE, TRAVEL, DRINK ALCOHOL, SMOKE…?
The implant placement will not alter our day to day. It will only be necessary to avoid doing intense sports the first days and, in the case of smokers, minimize this habit during the first week.
3. REJECTION OF AN IMPLANT
This type of complication is very unlikely.
98% of the implants that we place healing occurs without any problem, although, as in any other type of healing, in 2 out of every 100 cases it may not be perfect.
If this happens, it will only be necessary to repeat the process (at no cost to the patient and with a 98% probability that in this case it will heal correctly).
4. HOW LONG DO THE IMPLANTS LAST? WILL I HAVE THEM ALL MY LIFE?
With good care, YES!!
Implants can last you a lifetime.
They are made of titanium, which is a biocompatible material, tolerable by the body and non-toxic and allows the integration of the implant with the bear to be permanent.
5. HOW LONG DOES AN IMPLANT TREATMENT LAST?
To make sure that the implant is satisfactory, the time is between 3 and 6 months.
6. WILL I BE OK WITH THE REST OF MY TEETH?
We always work so that there is a facial harmony in your face and that your dental health also favors your aesthetics. So, yes, without a doubt.
7. WILL YOU SEE A HOLE BETWEEN TOOTH AND GUM?
No, a temporary crown is placed so that there is no hole left.
8. DO THEY NEED A LOT OF FOLLOW-UP ONCE YOU WEAR THEM?
We recommend monitoring it every six months to see its evolution and clean it up. Once they are well integrated, follow the usual dental guidelines in all patients.
9.COM DO I CLEAN THEM?
People with dental implants should follow the same hygiene routine as other people, although we recommend that it be as strict as possible to avoid infections.
The use of dental floss, interproximal brushes and mouthwash should be the great allies.
10. IS A DENTAL IRRIGATOR NECESSARY?
The irrigator is a very useful tool for both implants and orthodontics, because the water pressure gets to clean the implants deeply.
