DO YOU HAVE TO LOWER YOUR TEETH TO MAKE COMPOSITE VENEERS?
Unlike ceramic veneers, composite veneers are minimally invasive and fully reversible. By this we mean that we do not have to lower the tooth to be able to put the veneer, we simply pass a spawn to give it a little roughness and we already prepare the tooth as if we were going to make a filling: we gravel, put adhesive and the layers of aesthetic composite. Finally we polish until we manage to give it the shine and shape we want.
Only in those cases where we want to have an “orthodontic effect” and there is a tooth that is very outward, but it is always minimal.
HOW IS COLOR CHOSEN?
We choose the color with the patient. We do a test first (mock-up) and he decides the final color, always advised by us.
HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?
We could say that the approximate durability is usually about 7 years, but it is different for each case, since it depends on many factors: oral hygiene, bruxism, how to close, check-ups, diet. And this does not mean that by the age of 7 they have to be completely changed, but that they can be repaired directly on the veneer depending on the problems that may arise: wear, some stain, small fractures, recessions (raise the gum up), loss of shine, etc., but all this has an easy solution and normally on a visit it can be fixed.
In ceramic ones this cannot be done, because to add ceramics it must be sent to the prosthetic and this means repeating the entire veneer again.
WHAT CARE SHOULD WE TAKE?
- HYGIENE: The main thing is good oral hygiene with daily thread. This will make the veneers shine for longer. At least one hygiene and annual check-up must be carried out.
- AVOIDING VERY HARD FOOD/OBJECTS: We can eat everything, but trying to avoid lever forces, that is, avoid biting hard-crusted sandwiches, pipes, pens, etc., where the veneers are, because they could cause them to fracture. The more care we take with food, the lower the risk of fracture. In case a little piece breaks, it can be easily fixed, since we can add composite without any problem.
- DOWNLOAD SLURNY: In bruxist/tightening patients, they may wear out or break them sooner, since if you have worn your teeth, it will also wear out the veneer. In these cases we recommend making a splint to sleep in order to extend the durability of the veneers a little longer.
ARE THE VENEERS STAINED?
They can be dyed with external stains: tobacco, coffee…
In case stains appear, they can be easily removed by doing hygiene in the clinic and good polishing.
DO YOU HAVE A GUARANTEE?
During the first year, if they break or need any repair, we do it free of charge. From the year onwards, the repair is already charged, but usually it is usually a simple repair that does not require changing the entire veneer.
