ET – U.C.L.A. students in Los Angeles are protesting the closure of their school dental clinic by the city’s mayor and the city government, a group that represents about 20 percent of the city school dental students.
The students are planning a strike Tuesday.
Los Angeles is the largest U., C.L., city.
The Los Angeles City Council, which is composed of Democrats, is considering legislation that would limit the amount of dental care students can receive at Los Angeles schools.
At least 20 Los Angeles school dental clinics have been shuttered by the Los Angeles Unified School District in the past two years.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced Tuesday that the city is making the changes to prevent the loss of dental benefits at schools.
The changes would go into effect Sept. 1, 2018.
