A list of the top 100 American dental clinics and hospitals is out, with the biggest dental centers having the most dental visits per capita.
It was compiled by U.S. News & World Report magazine and the National Dental Association.
There were a total of 4,895 dental centers listed, which is an increase of nearly 50 percent from 2015, when there were only 4,081 dental facilities listed.
There are about 1,600 hospitals listed, up from 690 in 2015.
It’s a good sign that dental care is getting better in America, said Kristi Denniston, senior editor at U.K.-based dental health website The Daily Meal.
“This is an indication that our patients are getting the care they need, and the results are great,” she said.
Dennison, who is a former executive at the National Association of Health Plans and an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota, said the dental care industry is in good shape and that the American Dural Association’s ranking is a good indicator.
“In fact, it’s the highest of any U. S. dental industry, including private dentistry,” she added.
Dental care is improving across the country, but it is still in its early stages.
“It’s a trend that’s been going on for a long time and it’s still happening in many parts of the country,” said Dennerson.
“But this is the first time we’re seeing such a significant increase in dentists per capita.”
For comparison, the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization said in a 2016 report that overall dental care costs have decreased over the past decade in the United States.
