Delhi: A patient who was stranded on a highway in the heart of Delhi for several hours on Thursday night has died of a cardiac arrest, officials said.
A statement issued on Friday said that the condition of the patient was critical and he was being taken to a hospital.
The police has registered a case of death under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 307 (murder) for which the victim is yet to be identified.
A statement by the Delhi government said that police had started to evacuate people stranded in the road due to heavy traffic, and that they had to use all possible measures to get them out of the road.
“Police are going to evacuate a number of vehicles, including private vehicles, and will be on the lookout for a number more,” the statement said.
The hospital where the patient died is a private one, the statement added.
